Little Sister (These Photographs Speak A Different Truth)

by Kenshin   Mar 31, 2006

It's been a long time, dear sister,
To see those tears,
I hear you on the phone,
Telling me of a stupid exam,
That you failed in it,
After putting everything you had,
It's not the end of world, you say,
But your tears betray you in everyway.

I look at the photographs we had,
Of days in the past,
Why can't things go back to the way they were?
You often wondered and blamed yourself,
Poor little soul,
Lost in the vast world,
Finally you became someone,
But happiness never seems to find its way to you.

More photographs I look into,
I see your smile fade away,
Things happened,
I'm sorry; I should have been a better brother,
But you know what,
You always managed to hide it,
Now this last photograph,
I see your true face.

Looking into the world,
An angel shinning over,
Wishing things will be the same,
What happened to our family?
Are we truly over?
I know the burden you carry,
Upon your fragile shoulders.

More photographs,
These come from the future,
I see wrinkled face and a baby in your arm,
But that\'s not yours,
It's another soul you helped,
Another face you made smile.

But sister, tell me why?
Why don't you see the true beauty within?
You say everything is alright,
But these photographs speak a different truth.
Each telling a story,
And each bringing a tear.

Sister, it's alright to fall,
For you always come back and stand,
It's not the end of the world,
To just make a small mistake,
So what if she's coming back,
Embrace her rather then fear her.

Dear sister,
I'll send you the photographs,
But not of a past forgotten,
But of a brightened future,
With nothing but love and happiness,
For you and all of those in this picture.

Very nice! I like how you reflected on many photographs explaining how life affected her in each one.
I also admire how you ended this on such a positive note. Quite refreshing.
Take care and keep it up~Holly
