All Alone

by Tammie   Mar 31, 2006

As she walked through the park,
She saw many things,
From celebrations and laughter,
To birds with pretty wings.

There were 2 birthday parties and a wedding,
With couples everywhere.
But she was all alone,
With no one that cares.

That's all she's ever wanted,
All she's ever wished for.
Someone to share her laughter with,
Someone to adore.

As she sat on the park bench,
A tear fell from her eye,
Revealing her sadness,
From deep, deep inside.

One after another,
Teardrops fell,
As the memories rushed back,
So she started to dwell.

She thought of when she was happy,
When all was well,
Before life became so complicated,
And became a living hell.

She remembered back to primary school,
When she was just a kid,
When nothing really mattered,
No one cared what she did.

Now she's quite a bit older,
She's learnt from her mistakes,
And found out the hard way,
There's only so much the heart can take.

So as she sits there in the park,
With the happiness all around,
She's going to try her best,
To take away her frown.

So she decided to move on,
Forget about the past,
Try to find happiness,
But this time make it last.

I love this poem because when I was reading it, it made me look back at my childhood for a sec and I realise to myself how often i still do in real life. Especially stanza 6 and 7 are very powerful in explaining the emotion of what see sees, and what she's been through.
And the final stanza is a very powerful one, having a goal for making it last.
    Wonderful poem!
