Splinters

by CaffeineBomb   Apr 1, 2006

We couldn't even handle one last look
And no more words were spoken
Not even ones that maybe should have been said

I wish I had another chance to talk to you
To say the words, to get my closure and move on
'Cause the cycle had to break someday
Why not today?
While there's nothing to say
But if I ever had the chance again
I'd push the splinters in
No more letting you fall apart
No more letting this fall apart
If I ever get the chance again
I'll push the splinters in

I still look sometimes to see if you're there
And when I see you are, I wish I could talk to you
These words I have to say will eat me from the inside

I know I was always the one in the wrong
No one ever said that you had to forgive me but you did
I'm saving you from ever having to forgive me again

Maybe in time we'll drift back to where we were
Maybe in time these splinters can fall out without the sting
Maybe in time we can see each other's faces again
Maybe in time we'll forget what's been now it's gone
