Message of Hope

by Poetvoices   Apr 1, 2006

The last gleam of hope
flashed before my eyes.
I reached for it desperately,
but it slipped from my grip and died.

All dream were gone.
Every hope was dead.
The hole in my heart
still left unfed.
I was able to remove
the heavy lead,
but not without
a little bloodshed.

All of a sudden,
a light anon.
I ran to catch it
before it was gone.

A hole in a wall
let the light pass through.
A paper on the ground read,
"A note for you!"
I opened it up.
Eyes stuck like glue.
I knew this message
had been read by few.

I read aloud to myself
comprehended every word.
At first, I didn't understand.
Confused at what I'd heard.

The penmanship was messy.
Written in blood so red.
The message forever changed my life.
This is what it said:
"I came for you and your siblings.
For your sins I bled.
My blood is in your wine.
My body in your bread.

I love you, my child.
Don't ignore my plea
if you want to spend your life
with me forever in eternity."

The hole in the wall opened wider.
I got myself outside.
I finally escaped the place
I only went to to hide.
