Butterflies Are Free

by RainbowSlider   Apr 2, 2006

I was just a Caterpillar
crawling across the land.
My life was full of filler
but inside I was a human.

Mistakes I made crawling
in the darkness of night.
I often thought of brawling
but mostly I wanted flight.

I got lost in the rat race
and got caught up in living.
I put a mask to my face
and just stopped giving.

I wove a whole web around
everything including me.
I got attached to a frown
and just stuck to a tree.

I went way inside of my cave
and my cocoon helped me to see
that material things can't save
but butterflies are free.
