Life lost

by Samantha Compton   Apr 2, 2006

I wait for you
To enter once more
Into my sight,
You who I adore,
But you didn't come.
I'm left alone
And from my soul
Escapes a moan.

Panic streaks
Throughout my brain
Entangling
With fear and pain.
Will you ever again
Cross my path,
Smile at me
And make me laugh?

Your eyes so rich
With hope and light
Are fading fast
Like day to night.
Life slipping from
Your youthful grip,
I can only watch,
As the balance tips.

And then you breathed
Your very last
And grief engulfed my
Future and past.
Life had come,
It stole you away,
And now happiness
Can never stay.

Life somehow ceased
In that dreadful hour,
As in the shadow
Of death I cowered.
The world deprived
Of another soul,
Beauty unknown
Disappeared with the toll.

How can such death
Be fair in our eyes
When nothing was done
To seek it's demise?
It restlessly takes
And never gives back
Deprives us of people
With an evil-based knack.

So be on your guard,
It comes as it likes,
Merciless, Restless,
And hungry for lives.
