At The Sea

by Monique Seidler   Apr 2, 2006

I walked to the edge
of the tide from the sea.
I gazed into the water
and I saw only me.

I lifted my head
and I heard the waves crash.
I felt the wind blow my hair
then it left in a flash.

The horizon glowed
with the light of the sun.
I had spent every minute;
I had not wasted one.

I felt the pebbles
under both of my feet.
Then the water rose to them
and they cooled from the heat.

I looked one last time
from the sand out to sea.
When I come to see this place,
that is when I feel free.

The birds, they don't care
if you're pretty or not.
They just chirp, then they leave you
with everything you've got.

Though when the night falls,
all the beauty it leaves.
It has gone till the next day
when I'll come and perceive.
