The Habit

by beth   Apr 3, 2006

I keep nibbling and biting
But this habit I'm fighting
I'm determined to stop biting my nails.
I start with intentions
So good but should mention
That with every attempt I fail.

With willpower renewed
For these fingers I've chewed
'Cos they're really becoming quite sore,
But when I sit thinking
I'm sure they start winking
And beg me to bite them once more!.

So, nibble I do
Just one maybe two
I'll start with my middle finger,
But once nibbled I notice
And question my motives
For the pain is beginning to linger!.

Determination refreshed
I must do my best
This habit I really must conquer,
But as I sit reeling
From this familiar feeling
Oh i just wish my nails were longer!.
