Caged

Like a tiger pacing in a cage
a monkey staring past the fence
i feel caged among this page
as i write these words condense

like a fish swimming in a tank
a bird in a cage, singing a song
and yet it's you i want to thank
you who told me to stay strong

its not easy being kept back
unable to let loose and just be
true happiness is what i lack
I'm only happy when i feel free

like a bird without its wings
a male lion without its roar
i take on whatever life brings
I'm not a little girl anymore

i feel trapped inside a zoo
my patience slowly decreasing
freedom i look forward to
as my anxiety is increasing

like a fox stuck in a trap
a dog that is fat and aged
life's surprises slowly unwrap
as i simply feel like I'm caged
