My life lane

by megan   Apr 3, 2006

I see the path before me,
I recognize its curve,
I run down as it greets me,
Every detail I observe.

I slow as I reach a turning,
I take a chance to rest,
I gradually look around me,
Heres my final test.

I fall onto the grassy bank,
I lie awake in hope,
That one day you will wonder,
Down this road, meet me at the slope.

I wonder further down the pathway,
Searching for a sign,
I catch my hand on prickles,
The scratches, they intertwine.

I hurry faster down the road,
Panic as I feel you there,
I hear your voice in the distance,
But nothing echoes in the air.

I cry as I collapse to the floor,
The leaves donâ??t catch my fall,
Nothing is around me,
The pain creates a wall.

Im trapped behind a barrier,
Im failing this final trial,
Im weeping for a saviour,
Were you really worthwhile?

I climb slowly to my feet,
I look down the winding lane,
I see no end to its darkness,
For you, this was in vein.

Take me to your pathway,
Tell me what you see,
Is your lane tough and long?
Or can you reach the sea.
