The Lion (2002 age 11)

by Imogen   Apr 4, 2006

Crouching close to the prairie floor,
The lion lies in wait.
Silent.
Still.
His ears pricked,
His eyes alert;
Scanning the scene for sight of prey.

Suddenly he sees,
He leaps;
His roar penetrating the cold night air.

A deer's cry,
A flurry of claws,
A flash of teeth,
A pool of blood,
Then it's all over.

Golden fur,
Glistening mane;
The lion stands,
Tall and bold;
His face shining with pride.
Satisfaction.
Victory.
Glee.
Then the lion streaks home,
To devour his tea.

    I can't critise any of your poems!! soz! it is just that they are all really good! (can you not spell some-thing wrong so i can point that out)! You have a wonderfully multi=coloured flare for poetry!

    Wow you wrote this at 11!! That's pretty wicked!! You have such a deep soul haha.. I didn't really get the last line; it kind of seemed out of place, yet fit perfectly at the same time. But none-the-less it's a great write and I really enjoyed it! Espcially the quickness of the short stanzas. Nice job.
