I feel for you my velvet flower

by StEve   Apr 4, 2006

I feel for you my velveteen flower..
Picked from your life\'s finest hours.
Now you wilt, dangling stem in my vase.
Your soft scent lingering and licking my face.
Its as if at that moment that you were plucked.
The brightness and joy of your beauty was sucked.

I have watched you for days failing to gravity.
Lingering in the shade, filled with depravity.
Torn from those roots that bound you to life.
Stuck in this glass cage to suffer such strife.
How sad you have made me in this time.
I never realized I could commit such a crime.
For in taking your beauty to keep as my own.
I stole you from your life, from the seeds you would have sewn.

Perhaps it was best, that I took you then.
For at that moment you stood the highest and proudest of all your floral ken.
They will never see you wilt, they will never see you fall.
They shall never have to watch your death come to call.
Remember you they will, as the beauty of the spring.
Never what I see, this wilted dying thing....

Now its been a week and the water has grown ill.
Your laying over slumped on my dusty window sill.
Your perfume has long left you along with your leaf.
Death has come to call you, the nights secret thief.
When did you die I do now wonder.
At what point was it your life gave up, I do but ponder.
Was I the cold hand of fate that tore you from your light?
Or shall it be when your last leaf falls on this day or in this night?
