I Will Rise

Say what you will, I will not bleed,
For the longer I listen, the longer I will not breathe.
Let go of me, don't hold me back,
For there are already chains that cripple me, it's a fact!
I do not need another scar
For the truth has cut me enough so far...
Let me listen to the words of my soul, not of your mouth,
For you only encourage self-loathing and self-doubt!

Please do not stare me down,
For your hatred is echoing in silent sounds.
I do not need another reason to hate myself
For venomous words do not only escape your mouth.
Let me try to be all I can be
For I can no longer be deceived.
I know not why you hate who I am, nor will I
For your messages are cryptic but they will not cause me to cry!

I am not free of things that cause burning shame,
For I have done things that cause others pain.
Please do not take this from me, I have little else to give
For all else has been removed, I need this to live.
Try to tear me down, I shall not feel the hate
For I blocked it out, you are too late.

Say what you will, I am what you despise.
