A miracle

I witnessed a miracle one day
A sight that took my breath away
I blinked in doubt and double-checked
But there was nothing to correct

A flash of light had met my eyes
A sight as beautiful as the sunrise
My jaw dropped to the floor
But my heart began to soar

My mind ceased to work
I walked towards you with a sudden jerk
You smiled and said hello
Your smile was bright and your face was aglow

I stood there in silence for awhile
Only returning the gesture of a smile
Then I stuttered my first words to you
And these words I cannot undo

You are glowing
And your beauty is showing
Grant me your name
So when I die, it shall not be in vain

You giggled and told me your name
You decided to play my game
You shook my hand and took off your hat
And I cannot thank you enough for that

Soon thereafter we were wed
And it was just as I said
I witnessed a miracle that day
And now you appear whenever I pray
