Granted

by ishkabibble   Apr 5, 2006

She took him for granted
he was always there
when she needed him most
or when she didn't need him at all
he was there throughout
the tears and joy
a faithful mount
never bad.

never once did he rear or shy
he was better than that
even when the lightning struck
he stood calm in
the moonlight arena
filled with sand
as he cantered round
like a true gentleman

a beauty he was with his
glistening bay coat
and stripe down the
center of his face
a sock on his hoof
was the only marking besides
his pretty little face.

he jumped like a dream
and moved like a winner
but time was passing and
so were the years
so he became old
and had a bad back
but trooped on
like a brave solider would
not knowing on day he would be
buried covered in dirt.

so he kept on jumping high
like an eagle flies
just to see a smile
of a littles kids face
he lived to please
thats all he wanted
and thats what he got
why did he go so sudden?

Now on that cold winter day
as i stood on that hill
my feet were at his grave
the week before
he had been in to much pain
but he trooped on
and nobody knew that it was
harmful thing
that he flinched when the saddle was thrown on his back.
So he gave up hope just like that

I still remember my last ride
to this day
and oh! what a sad one it was
i said good bye
not knowing why
and never saw that face again

So i took him for granted
something i should of never done
he was a perfect horse
and i missed my shot,
he was always there
till one day he wasent
there anymore

**RIP Aaron (Arabian TB cross) you will never be forgotten and you spirit lives on in the hearts of everyone who ever got the chance to know you.

I think this poem is beautiful. Very sad though. :( I'm sorry about the horse.
I wrote a poem about a horse, called 'precious horse' it's no where near as good as yours is. i love the way you write, it seems to flow really well with me. Keep it up,
