Raining Prayers

by Jacklyn   Apr 6, 2006

Quiet rumbles in the African Fields
bare feet pounding into the dirt
Working, hoping that rain comes
praying to feed the old and young

Clouds grow darker trading the sun
shading the land, unfolding hope
Prays grow louder, chantings stronger
children dancing and smiles approaching

One by one the drops begin falling
lighting dances reflecting in eyes
thunder claps as young ones hide
The ground is feed and seeds begin

Quiet rumbles in the African Fields
bare feet pounding into the dirt
Working, hoping that rain comes
praying to feed the old and young

Well done! Beautiful flow and flawless imagery. I could see it all perfectly.
I like how you ended it with the beginning stanza, it really drives your message home.
Take care and keep it up~Holly

    Ooooh, i love the repition!

    Here was my favorite stanza:

"Clouds grow darker trading the sun
    shading the land, unfolding hope
    Prays grow louder, chantings stronger
    children dancing and smiles approaching"

"Trading the sun". I never would've thought of decribing sundown like that. I can see children playing and being happy...and it makes me smile. Reminds me of being young again. :)

    Wonderful piece, lil slam!

    Love Always,
