A Starlit Night

by The Black Angel Lloyd Rose   Apr 8, 2006

A moonlit glow casting down upon us,
Bathing us in a tranquil light.
The two of us lying alone in a field of roses,
A sweet floral fragrance,
Gently pushed across us by a serene breeze.
The starlight shining down,
Mixing into the darkness,
Swirling all around overhead.
Lying peacefully together,
Alone; just you and I,
Resting upon the soft bed of grass
That's reaching through the earth only to catch us.
In my arms I hold you tight,
Never wanting to let go of you,
For I have found true love.
I never believed of its existence,
But as I gaze into the soft shade of green,
I realize I was mistaken.
I hold you close; so softly,
Feeling the warmth from your heart,
Keeping me close; casting away my problems.
My hand brushes through your long soft hair,
And I look into your deep green eyes,
Viewing such harmony within.
A gentle kiss as you begin to fall asleep,
Letting you know
That I will be there when you awake,
And I always will be there.
The night deepens and the moon is no longer overhead;
Just leaving its vibrant halo behind you.
Embraced in my arms,
Protecting you as you rest.
Your eyes grow heavy,
And I whisper softly into your ear,
"I love you." never wishing for a reply,
For I know you feel the same
By the way your arms don't push me away;
Instead, they draw me closer.
"Goodnight my love. Sweet dreams."
Your eyes now too heavy too hold,
Have long ago closed
And I, given the gift of your warmth,
Knowing it is such a sweet gift,
Never wishes to lose it.
My eyes now strafe from your silent face,
Yet never looking anywhere else upon you,
For they look past; into the distance,
At the moon now nearing its end,
Knowing that we never have to be as the moon;
Dying daily yet we shine brighter than the moon itself.
I look back, into the resting eyes of an angel,
The one whom I thought I would never be with,
Smiling at such a beautiful sight;
The one I love in such a peaceful state,
And the two of us...together.
My eyes now grow heavy as well,
And I slowly close them,
Only to see you again once they are closed
For you never leave my mind;
The very same way as
We will never leave each other's heart.
