Cemetery Serenade

by The Black Angel Lloyd Rose   Apr 8, 2006

Walking through the cemetery at night,
Markings together all so trite.
Walking past I notice one that stands out.
I read the name and wish to shout.
I look upon the stone in shame;
I look at an old friend's name.
10 years in the past; we were so close,
10 years and now a single black rose,
I remembered you telling me that day
That you wished to part and go away.
I thought I talked you out of that shit;
Well I guess it just came down to this.
Maybe I should've tried harder but, what to say?
Maybe it should've been me instead to go away.
It matters not; as you lay at my feet.
You fought life but, admitted defeat.
