A Friend

by Shannon   Apr 9, 2006

My false hopes have become
Brittle like my fingers,
That try to grasp more and more
While my life slips away.
I never was one to feel
Helpless and alone,
But anyone can change
When the barrels at their head.

"I loved you when you were just a friend"

You've brought me calm and restless nights,
Of wondering why I am this way.
The gun is cocked,
The pistol's loaded,
Push me off the plank.

You were, [I loved you] Just a friend.
