A Lost One

She lost the one that she loved so much
Every aspect of her life he truly did touch
His gentle eyes and caring smile
The beauty of this didn't last awhile

From Sunday morning to Saturday night
She never wanted to leave his sight
He was the one she could go to with anything
Good words and wisdom he would always bring

On Friday night he was taken away
For weeks on end in her bed she would lay
Crying and sobbing not eating at all
At the thought of this man she began to bawl

The flowers and cards couldn't ease the pain
Her life from then on would never be the same
She tried to put on a smile, she tried to win the fight
She tried to pull through, she tried with all her might

She watched as he was put in a coffin and placed in the ground
While family and friends stood all around
It was the last time she'd see him for awhile
The fact that she'd see him in heaven made her smile

Now, he wasn't a husband, a boyfriend, or friend
It was her father to heaven that God did send
She missed him so much, she wanted to die
But she knew he would want her to be happy, so she just had to try
