Wakinyan (The Thunder Beings)

by Psymon   Apr 11, 2006

The large purple and black creatures approach
The flashes announcing their impending forces
Like some unstoppable coach
Driven by thunderous horses

They rise high
Up into the sky
Towering over the expectant ground
And then comes the awaited sound
Awesome in its voice
Some take the choice
To run and hide
Trembling, cowering somewhere inside
While some of us stay
Our hearts racing with joy as night takes over day
Rushing onward, toward an unknown destination
Wakinyan knows nothing about procrastination
Loud are their shouts of joy
No-one can accuse them of being coy

Sweeping overhead now
The deafening row
The strange faces of these beings loom
Glances caught in the deepening gloom
Electric vocalisations split the air
Stand your ground if you dare

Air raging, tugging at your resolve
The wetness seeping in under skin
Giving hope to the new seeds ready to evolve
To stand and watch the rebirth of sky begin

The rumblings of anger and despair
Roll away; are we really listening
Do we ever wonder at the words spoken there
Now the world is once more, glistening

The dusty land washed clean again
The thunder beings release of pain
Wi shines forth brightening the future ahead
The pipes of prayer acknowledge all alive, all relatives, it is said
Peace, heard from the flying ones in their calls of praise
As the world slips into a newer phase
Fresh from the devastating forces of the wild
Calm inhabits now, as if the world has smiled
