Darkness

The darkness comes
and settles around them
releasing those from
their earthly bonds
to break their shell away
piece by piece
shadow by shadow
and leaving those raw
open and released
a free spirit
to dance
and flow
and become the very night its self
to breakaway
from what we see by fact
and dissolve into darkness
which is nothingness
which is everything
and all that we have
And the light from stars and reality
hardly reaches their eyes
and that light and those ayes
barely skim the surface of
their spirit
and darkness
blocks out all light
and takes away all we know
to leave them un-knowing
what they knew
and the light only reaches
the surface
but the darkness goes deeper
to the essence
and our core
of who we are
and in the darkness we are free
to be who we choose
not who the light chooses
and in the darkness
their spirit can hide from the world
because they are not part of it
the world is only what light can tell
and light tells so many lies
and in the darkness
everything is the same
they and them are one
because all is darkness
and no one is better
because everyone is beautiful
in the beauty
that only night can tell
and night tells so many things
as they are
