Wishing

Gazing back I see all the things,
All the things I should have said.
I realize that I could have done-
So many things left for dead.

I wish I had said sorry...,
To everyone I never meant to hurt.
I would have done everything,
Once more without being so curt.

So many thoughts will begin,
With the words "I wish I had...."
So many wistful pleadings...
Will bring back all the bad.

There is no use in all this time,
No use with those words I ignore.
The pain of seeing lost chances now...
To only change them I implore.

But there is no room for "I wish I hads"
And the chances lost are forever gone.
No more beginnings of another time
There is only the start of moving on.
