The Day I Almost Lost Her

by mer   Apr 13, 2006

The day i almost lost her,
started no different from the rest.
a hot summer day, wishing rain would bring shelter from the
suns rays.

The day i almost lost her,
had been a day of joy and triumph.
no ones lies and scorn could beat me down,
or so i thought.

The doctors haunting eyes greeted me more than her toothy fake smile.
She sat me down on the couch and asked if I'd talk with her a while.

I wish i had prepared myself,
for the painstaking words I'd heard.
But the truth she had bestowed that day, was far from words of joy.

"Honey, she had a bad day, the kids stabbing with their mouths. Lies and truths that shouldnt be told, had spread all around."

"Now honey, she'll be alright, but you cannot talk to her."
"Honey i swear tonite, she will come out of the hospital."

See she took one to many pills,
to let go of all the pain.
The pain she wanted to leave to this world,
Unknowingly to you and your mom

I see her in my dreams,
thanking god he let her stay
praying for the day she'd come home.
But overjoyed that she is still alive
