Addiction Becomes Reality

by HOLLY ARMER   Apr 13, 2006

Caught in the turmoil
of drugs and ecstasy
Just another club kid
longing to be free

from the threat of normalcy
haunting every day
chasing indifference with
each line of Special K

Swirling into madness
thoughts no longer clear
watching with a smile
as the world disappears

Unable to accept that
there's no real escape
drugs numb the pain
but life they can't reshape

Denying the need
as you crave another line
while fragments of the truth
creep into your mind

Pushing them away
the choice is not to see
when the burden of addiction
becomes reality

A very real piece of work. I work with children with adictions. You hit the nail on the head. Awesome as always. 5/5
