I went away
Cuz I was accepted
To my first choice
Of colleges.

I told you in a year
You could come up
to be with me
And you said okay.

But a year is a long time
I haven't stopped loving you
But have you found someone new?

I pulled up to your house
And knocked on the door.
Your mom answered
And said you were in the kitchen

I stood in the door way
while you rummaged in the fridge
I smiled and came closer
You sensed me and turned around

I smiled a little and said hi
You closed the fridge and
Walked toward me
My breath caught
As you stood in front of me

I slipped my arms around you
And your arms came around me
I melted into your embrace
And you hugged me tightly.

You pulled away slightly
And we kissed for the first time
In almost a year
Then I knew.

It doesn't matter
How far apart we are
For there can be no
Distance of the heart.
