A Haunting Secret

by Heather   Apr 15, 2006

I see him standing over there,
My mind says,
"Run!"
My heart asks
"Where?!!?!?"
Where can I run,
To escape from the mermories,
I've tried so hard to bury?
For whichever way I turn,
I'll still see that face,
That terrifying face which
Haunts me in my dreams,
And chases whatever joy away,

Never have I told you,
My secret buried deep within,
The sorrowful story,
Of what appears to my eyes,
The skeleton of the girl,
Who I once was,
Trapped inside a prision
Of her own design,

Yet, your knowing eyes,
Pierce my soul and seem to know...
Seem to know the dark, haunting Secrets from which I hide.
You seem to read
The fragments of what
Was once my heart
And cower not, when you see
My many bruises and wounds,
But most of all SCARS,

Scars left of stories
That have gone untold,
Of broken dreams
And hope unraveled,
Of this silent pain I've been carrying
For so long....

Yes, far too long...............

I really like the lines "For whichever way I turn,
I'll still see that face" and "The skeleton of the girl,
    Who I once was,
    Trapped inside a prision
Of her own design," Lines like that take talent m'dear. Not just anyone could write like you do.
