Untitled

We lined the sides of the path
As they carried your coffin through
We filed to the back of the church
There's so many here to see you.

I stand at the back of the Church
With many more standing outside
There aren't enough seats in there
For everyone to be inside.

My friend entwined her hand in mine
And whispered 'Are you alright?'
I looked at her with tearful eyes
And said 'I want him by my side'

Many speak of your life
Though it was just fifteen short years
It brings to me many laughs
But so many more tears.

They lower your coffin into the ground
And letters of love soon follow
I throw a single rose to sleep with you
My body feels so hollow.

More words of love are spoken
As they all gather at your grave
But I walk away from them all
I just can't be that brave.

You would not want me to cry
Or to always wonder what if...
But as I stand looking at you
I wonder what I should give

Do I lay a single rose
That will die upon your home?
Or leave a toy or my heart
So you'll never be alone?

That church will always hold memories
Of the friend I loved and lost
And of when I stood beside that path
And watched your coffin cross.

Forever I will stand by that grave
Not knowing what to do
And as I lay that rose upon your home
I'll whisper 'Ill always love you'.
