The Heart Does Go On

Taking my heart as each day does allow it
Recalling the hurt and trying to ignore it
I want to love you the way you love me
I want to believe you and all you say you will be

The hurt is still within me buried deep in my mind
The betrayal is still before me and the trust I'm yet to find
I want to love you and give you my life
I want to stand beside you as the loving wife

But the hurt that you caused has been to much to bare
The pain you inflicted by bringing her here
You need to understand that my heart is not stone
It is soft and oh so precious and it can function alone

But if the day ever comes and my heart misses a beat
Maybe then will be the day, that our love will again meet
Until then my baby my heart stands strong
And it will remain this way until true love comes along
