Little Girl

by Jill Turner   Feb 4, 2004

There was a little girl,
Who was all alone.
She just hid away,
And never left her home.
All her parents would do,
Is scream and yell.
She dreamt of heaven,
Cause she lived in hell.
The drinking and drugs,
Never got old.
So at night she would sleep,
Out in the cold.
She prayed that God,
Would give her wings.
So she could fly to heaven,
And hear the angels sing.
Sing a song,
That's soft and warm.
In a place,
Where she's safe from harm.
But all her dreams,
Were shattered one night.
When her drunken parents,
Got into a fight.
The knife was never,
Meant for her.
But the pain was sharp,
And everything became a blur.
Her parents just stood there,
Not a tear in their eyes.
As they watched their little girl,
Little girl die.

I appreciate everyone's comments. They mean a lot to me and I am glad to say that this is not a true story. The other day I was just sitting around and the song Concrete Angel came on and then this poem just came to me. Thanks again for reading my poems and I hope you'll check out the rest of them.
