A Trail Unwritten

by Once an Angel   Apr 16, 2006

Bittersweet winds scratch their claws upon my delicate flesh.
As my tinny feet make soft impressions, short lived on the sand.
Soon, the water leaping towards the prints devours them hungrily.
S l o w l y clogging their memory with new waves of stony sand.

I walk the foreboding beaches as my own companion.
The moon and stars offer solitary compassion to my lonely march,
by accenting my glistening trail for one moment of shining glory,
before the water is able to have its greedy feast upon remembrance.

My road continues forever on, unnoticed by the world ahead of me,
Instantly forgotten by the realms of the near and distant past.
Hell's angels make an account, the only record of my senseless existence,
the only creatures, living or dead, to see the end of my story.

In a few hours time the sun extends her brilliant rays to those beaches,
but now no travelers do roam the barren wastelands touching the sea.
Her great depths have snatched up to swallow this sorrowful wayfarer,
bringing a banal end to a life untouched by the soft hands of a friend.

This poem was supposed to be a lot cooler with a bunch of different fonts and sizes, but unfortunately this program didn't let me use them, so this is all I've got. I hope you like it, and sorry it goes off the lines a bit, it looked a lot better on a piece of paper than here. Thanks a lot for reading.

I believe i have just found my new favourite poem. The imagery in this is.... exceptional to say the least. I am almost speechless (which is a rare happening for me).
Your diction and flow were incredible. i'm really really glad you made that request for people to read this poem, if you hadn't i would most likely never have read it, and taht would be my loss in every way.

    Well done and rock on
