Royal Flush

by Marisa Lishay   Apr 18, 2006

The royalty is in.
From deep, down within.
I can grasp the thought of being alone,
Yet I can't imagine my precise definition of alone.
I consider myself a royal flush, because I'm royalty beyond measure,
And flush with pride when to you I bring pleasure.
I am royalty beyond simple direction,
To get to my soul, you'll have to stop and ask for directions.
Maybe that's why they're all lost,
Wandering and staying in a state of total darkness,
Growing and prospering without a curious fantasy about where I'm going.

The royalty is out.
My self-pity makes me want to shout it out,
Hey, I'm here, I'm over here!
Love seems only out of my grasp, dreaming about the times I could taste it,
Spending my time in a place where I think of my fancy, my life's suddenly wasted.
I prioritize and think of everyone first,
And for that, love's a constant thirst.
I want to be loved.
At the thought, I flush,
With the royalty inside me, I need a man I can trust.
