God's promise

The only thing that got me this far is God's heavenly grace,
when I was crying I ran to him and he wiped the tears off my face.

I told him how bad things had gone, God said, "my child, do not fear,"
I told him how he hurt me so
God said, "that boy isn't worth your tears."

He said he had given me a special gift, he said it was on it's way,
God told me if I was good I just might get it today.

So I did my best
I did what I was told,
then at the end of the day
you came up bare and bold.

You told me how much you cared
you told me exactly how you felt,
I knew you were what God promised me, what you said make my heart melt.

We have grown so very close
every since that day,
and then I get so happy
because I took that time to pray.
