Breaking the Wings off the Butterflies

by Tornia   Apr 19, 2006

I run from love
and hide from lust
because if my heart feels up
i know it will bust

and i don't want the butterflies
to carry me away
to steal my soul
without my say

to raise my heart
and lift it to the endless sky
and sit there drifting
only to watch the clouds go by

but when those clouds
cut off my air
those wings will break
and leave me hanging there

and then gravity
will pull me down
and I'll fall face-first
when i hit the ground

So i'll break those wings
before they lift me in the air
though the loss leaves me
weeping in despair

because deep inside
i know it's true
that despite my wing-breaking
I'll always love you
