Wings of a Dream

by Bill Turner   Apr 20, 2006

Drifting away on the wings of a dream
Taking me someplace I have been before
Facing my demons sometimes I want to scream
Catching an updraft as I once again soar

Former lives leaving me dead in the street
My life always seems to end this way
Shot, stabbed and killed by someone I meet
Always meant for me, never was there a stray

That alley in Chicago hit with a shotgun blast
Deadwood was that bullet in my chest
The sword in Rome that was a part of my past
A New York knife once laid me to rest

Violence has always been part of my life
This time there has been a change
Moving away from anger and strife
My life I decided to rearrange

Born covered in blood with a guttural yell
Will this be how my life must end
Once again violence and death weaving a spell
Wishing death to no longer be my friend
