X The Key To My Door

by Sole   Apr 20, 2006

Once upon a time
There was a single key
To that closing door of mine
Now just a memory

Everything was fine
An average, busy day
People stood in line
But the key was thrown away

Perhaps I was too kind
I fully trusted you
Before you blew my mind
Wasted all I knew

I gave you my key
Like nobody before
You turned away from me
Locked my only door

I'm stuck in a box
With nowhere now to go
The only door is locked
I sit here, all alone

Surrounded, and sick
Trapped behind these bars
Gives me time to lick
The blood from all my scars

You gave your knife
Threw away the key
Took my losing life
Well away from me

But I will forget
It's you I can forgive
Because my mind is set
For you I will live

This is a great poem. I Loved the stanza:
    I gave you my key
    Like nobody before
    You turned away from me
    Locked my only door
I can really relate to it. & also i like the way you ended it. It brings the whole poem together. great job. 5/5*

A key to your door ey...creative write.
I liked the idea of someone taking the key a locking you in, it's quite metaphorical.

The last line of the second stanza doesn't seem to fit...like there's something missing. It went from people in a line to the key being thrown away, and I can't see the connection.

The sixth stanza was very vivid and stuck in my mind. It was a powerful stanza.

    Well done.
