Promise Not to Hurt Me

by LadyPearl   Apr 21, 2006

Love in all it's beauty and grace
Comes upon me like an ocean tide
From love, I hid so long ago
So every kiss and hug denied

Ignorance became my friend
And I denied your flattering ways
But still you didn't let me go
Now I know you're here to stay

Into love's enchanting embrace
I stumbled like a blind fool
Unto the wings of secret sins
Underneath a silky pool

But that little voice inside of me
Starts to warn of a broken heart
In eyes of doubt, I gaze at you
Waiting for trust to shatter apart

Yet you didn't pull back in haste
But held my face instead
Hugged me close to your side
And tenderly kissed my head

Promise not to hurt me I say
As my breath ceased in wait
Smiling, you whisper in my ear
Love has been written in our fate

    I like this line:
Unto the wings of secret sins
    Underneath a silky pool
and the rest is a typical love poem. nice job. i like the rhyme.

Wow the rhyming in this one was SPOT-ON :D
I love the nature imagery, I'm a sucker for it :p and this poem is great for showing how caution is often misplaced
    Beautiful poem :)

I relate to this poem because I was so hurt that I doubted anbody could love me even though somebody keeps telling me he does now.

I thought the ending of the poem was your strongest and most beautiful part. It tied everything together and showed a start of growing strength even if you don't have the speaker explain it. It was also your most vivid part as far as imagery. The metaphors were nice and stood out a bit.
