Apart

There you sit, legs-crossed looking out the window,
Tears outside slide down the glass but inside too.

The clouds chase each other across the wide sky
And trees sway and break with loud, loud sounds.

But you still sit perfectly still by a window listening.
Lightly dressed, tear-swept smile on your tired face.

And he knows. That's why he stands in the cold pouring rain,
His skin shivering but his heart racing. He already tried to sleep.

The storm was too loud to sleep, yet too quiet to drown out her pain.
Because her ears are with the fleeing birds, searching for his voice.
And her wet eyes are outside with the rain, looking for his face.
Father asks her if she's ok, Mother tries to explain its a silly pain.

There he stands, staring into the eye of the driving rain,
The drops they soak his clothes they stain his skin.

The cascades of the water remind him of her hair
And the striking cliffs facing the sea, of how she is.

But you still sit perfectly still by the window listening.
With light blue eyes consuming dark grey outside.

And he knows that despite this, her eyes will never dim,
That her eyes are fueled by what love she still has for him.

The storm slowly subsides, but the passions rapidly rise.
Because he still loves her, enough to meet tempest's eye.
And he wont quite ever let go, while her eyes are blue.
Because together we are better than when we are apart.
