Sixteen

by DarkAngel06   Apr 23, 2006

I turned sixteen
not so many days ago,
My daddy knocked on my door,
Daddy's eyes were red,
I knew he was crying,
he misses mom very much,
In his hand he held
An ice-cream cake just for me,
he ordered special,
because he knew I liked MCR,
Daddy knew I couldn't eat,
it is why he got an ice-cream cake,
Daddy sang Happy Birthday to me,
and said
we would do something special,
after my surgery,
because then I could eat,
Pizza, burgers, subs and have
this cake all to myself,
Daddy handed me a letter,
and a beautiful gold box,
Daddy said it was from my mother,
tears began to fill
my deep blue eyes,
I opened the letter,
I read it out loud,
so daddy could hear
my mothers voice speaking to us,
The first line read,
I love you dear,
please don't cry for me,
for I am always with you,
inside your heart,
being a teen is really hard,
parents are forgiving,
always love you no matter what,
You may not think they do not care,
but in our hearts, we do,
I hope you can forgive me dear,
for I am not there in person,
to share
this wonderful day with you both,
In spirit I surround you,
I will see you blossom
as I have always done,
you're beauty, grace, style,
will always light any room,
you're smile,
will warm any heart,
Leslie, my dear,
You will make someone
very happy one day,
I'm proud of you,
your accomplishments,
never forget who you are inside,
Happy 16th birthday
always your loving mother...
I hugged my daddy so hard,
told him how I missed her so,
I said I was sorry
for the way I treated mom,
he handed me a kleenex
like my mom always did,
I wiped my eyes,
and finally told him,
the words I'd hadn't spoken
for so long,
I love you Daddy,
please don't ever leave me,
he held me in his arms,
and said,
I wouldn't baby,
I love you very much,
I opened the gift
left by my mother,
it was the locket
mom always treasured,
Mom gave it to me
when I turned thirteen,
I ripped it off my neck,
tossed it across the room,
it was then I told my mom,
I hated her so very much,
my mom had it fixed,
when I opened it,
there it was,
the picture of me, daddy and mom
both smiling and looking so proud
I was just a baby then,
on the other side,
my mom placed the picture
of my grade eight grad,
on the back my mom engraved
I love you dear,
I placed it around my neck
and there it will stay,
my daddy said,
wishes sometimes come true,
I can not bring your mother back,
it's your birthday,
I hope what you wish for
will come true for you,
So I made my wish,
I wished my friends,
Jessica, Sam, Michael, Jason
happiness, love, a better home,
loving parents like I have,
being a teen-ager is hard,
but together,
we will survive,
trust in your heart,
it is what my mother always said
