Confinement

by zizlo   Apr 24, 2006

Darker than the midnight sky
no light to guide me.
no way out of this depression
this cage...
i feel like an animal,
waiting to be released,
an animal that will wait
for the rest of time.
shut behind bars,
like a criminal...
a golden padlock
with a matching key
the key to my freedom-
to the end of my
confinement.
fire burning
in my eyes
symbolizing my rebellious
spirit
the call of the wild
awakes me,
ignites the fire
like extra
wood
dropped into a fireplace,
like a shovel of
coal
spilled in a furnace
to make a train
go faster
and faster...
and faster...
over the boundaries
of a land of slavery
out
of this prison,
into the light
that never
illuminated
my solitary
confinement...
