Child's Nightmare

A scream in the dark
Not another word

What have they done
What have i heard

I run to the sound
With my heart at a race

I find a child
And her tear stained face

I kneal at her side
Trying to help if i can

Who has done this
Did you say a man

Which one point him out
I'm calling the police

But she's slipping fast
And says, "Please don't leave"

So by her side i wait
For her last breathe

Until she's gone
And i feel the chill of death

I sit down
And cry on this girl

The blood so sickening
It makes me want to hurl

I look into her eyes
Seeing her cold dark stare

And that scared look
Reveals a child's nightmare
