You Are My Lifeboat

by Katie   Apr 24, 2006

I feel like a bird in a guilded cage,
Wings clipped, unable to break free,
Sitting all alone,
Surrounded by a golden sea.

I feel like a lost soul,
Floating against the tide,
Being washed further from everything I know,
And all I am inside.

I feel like I'm in a living hell,
Unable to banish my fears,
Afraid of having nothing,
Drowning in my tears.

My heart feels like a heavy weight,
My mind is heavier still,
Terrified of the way my inner self
Betrays me in exchange for the thrill.

Yet deep within my clouded mind,
I see the ray of hope,
The chance to be, the chance to feel,
The strategies to cope.

For you are the golden key,
The lifeboat sent to save,
You're all my heart, my body, my soul,
My whole will ever crave.

So saved am I by the key.
The boat, the hell are gone.
And in their place, a rainbow,
That sings of my life song.

I'm safe, I'm loved and wanted,
And where I want to be,
With you, my love, my heart, my soul,
For all eternity.
