Into the Unknown

by Samantha lynn   Apr 25, 2006

It happens in the blink of eye,
This change from innocence
Into a completely different person.
What happened to the days
Of sweet swing-set laughter
And waiting for the ice cream man?
Even more, what happened to the girl
Who would listen to everything
And didn't know the bitterness of regret?

She's branded with a heart on her hip,
And an aspirin in hand,
Thinking how everything changes.

Who knew one moment,
Would be one too late,
And the poisoning of the soul
Would have already sunk in too deep.
They say the road less traveled...
Well, maybe I want to try something else.
Something far more wild,
Overgrown with the thorn bush,
Made for the ones like me.

Guilty of wanting to step away
Regretting that simple decision
And yearning to go back to the beginning.

Now, I know why they say that,
About the road less traveled.
Where the path is narrow
And takes many turns.
Because walking in sunshine,
No matter how narrow the path,
Is always better then facing the darkness
Of the untamed jungle
Into the unknown and unplanned future.

This peice is brilliantly written, i like the way you wrote it and presented its content thoughout in a very symbolic mannor it really adds depth to the peice.
