Here Without You

by Amber   Apr 26, 2006

Feeling all alone
nothing left to do
I thought I would be happy
here away from you

I'm torn between two places
between real and just pretend
I know this is what I wanted
so now I have to bend

It's a whole new world without you
from experience I can speak
Staying with a friend is OK I guess
Yet life without a mother is oblique

I guess I'm talking about you
as if you had passed and gone
but I truly do not mean to
my life has become a sad song

I know that all I asked
was for independence from you
and now that you have given me that
my heart is turning blue

I'm inclined to disagree that that is what freedom would be like, but i can't really comment from experience. Nice poem though, and i can sort of relate. i think the very simple structure was very effective. helen
