Strong Poet

I am a strong poet. You look at me and
you judge me right away. You think,
"Oh, she's wearing THAT outfit, she
must be Goth or a prep." Or sometimes,
"She's reading that book AGAIN? She
must be a nerd. But what if I carry a
journal? Then do you think, "Oh she
writes poetry; it must be happy and
bright and filled with rainbows and
unicorns and pretty little butterflies!"
Umm...No. I don’t go for that roses
are red, violets are blue crap. I reach deep
and go for poetry that I know, stories that
I believe, things I can bring to life, and help,
and hurt, and bring you, my reader, my listener,
my audience into what I feel. What I know you
want to hear. What I know is real, is true, and
gives emotion to this bleak, dark, upsetting, unemotional, stereotypical world we call home.
