A Fairy Tale Lie

by Steph   Apr 26, 2006

A young girl sits in her window
Watching the world fly by
She used to believe in fairy tales
But now she doesn't, so she cries

"Star light, Star bight
Now you know my wish tonight
I wish I may, I wish I might
Please... make my wish come true tonight"

She recites this every night
Sitting and staring at the moon
All she wants is her fairy tale ending
She prays that it comes soon

She thought she found it once
But reality revealed it wasn't hers
Another "princess" stole her prince away
And left her heartbroken, with out a cure

Her knight in shining amour
Turned out to be a loser in tin foil
She wishes she could just erase his memory
But to him, her heart is loyal

She's just about has it with princes
This princess just wants to smile today
And be happy just once in her life
She has thrown her fairy tale wish away

She threw away her fairy tale books
To her, fairy tales don't come true
Princes and princesses belong in another world
"A world thats not mine", she must conclude

Her Prince Charming left her
Her fairy tale just told her a lie
Her wishes never seem to come true
All her fairy tale does is make her cry
