My Spring

by Strange Angel   Apr 26, 2006

Autumn's gentle cooling rain
Falls slowly on the ground
Pitter patter pitter patter
The long forgotten sound.

It feeds the burnt out scorching earth
To replenish it with hope
Allow the trees some time to breath
As leaves and earth elope.

But soon enough they get their rest
To stand so cold, alone
Dusty, empty frozen lands
Bleak sun as white as bone.

Biting at the blade of grass
With winter's icy glare
Cut down the sun and taunt her so
Caught in the darkness snare.

But soon enough she will fight back
With blades of light and love
And buds begin to unfurl here
In praise for warmth above.

Begin to hear my melting tune
The joyful melody
As once again I give life to land
Restore tranquillity.

And flourish now within this grace
I hope that it will last
'cause soon enough the summer's here
My spring lost to the past.

This is an absolutely beautiful poem and the imagery really transports the reader to the spring. The last line is very haunting and stands out as something quite bleak amongst the beauty.
