When Blue Fades To Grey

by Ashleigh Skye   Apr 26, 2006

Today the clouds came marching in,
the ugly colour of brand new tin.
blocking out the robin's egg sky,
sending raindrops from way up high.

The raindrops splash on the ground,
on rooftops and whatever's around,
a refreshing feeling is what some find,
while others get a depressing state of mind.

It helps the flowers grow up tall,
but cancels every game of baseball,
it has it's ups and it has it's downs,
and it makes the most unique of sounds.

Without it however we would be lost,
searching for it at any cost,
so next time the sky turns gray,
look up at it don't look away.

Embrace what falls upon your skin,
what you drink and what's flowing within,
understand the beauty it represents,
pause and smell it's many scents.

Free like the rain,
and powerful like it to,
this is what emerges,
when the sky is no longer blue.

Great peice, very descriptive and well written with a good concept. the structure and flow are solid and the content very well written.

only got one comment really which is that in the 3rd stanza maybe you could alter "unique sounds" to "unique of sounds" as this seems to fit much better
