Just a Dream

by Meggie33   Apr 27, 2006

As the daylight fades, and I see the stars poking through the night,
I gaze into the darkness, but for me you didn't leave on a light.

I see the moon hanging high, and the clouds begin to fade,
A tear runs down my love-struck face, as I recall all those times, for you I prayed.

Across the midnight sky, a shooting star, goes shooting past,
I don't even flinch, or think to wish, it would take so long to list my wishes, it would never last.

My phone is ringing, but I don't pick up, I don't want you to hear my pain,
My emotions are a disappointment, and I just want you back again.

I can barely see the movement, in this darkened world,
For you I wish to go walking by, but it won't happen, because I'm not your girl.

Creatures in the night, creep around outside my home,
My whole body has gone numb as I wish the night was gone.

Out of the pure silence, the phone begins to ring once more,
But I don't respond, until I hear a knock upon my door.

My fingers, covered in black, from the smeared eyeliner I rubbed,
Reach out for the cold, scary, door knob.

I open the door, with a small quiet creak,
But nobody is there to respond, and from my eyes, once again tears begin to leak.

I go lay down, and crawl up in my bed,
Realizing you never called, or came, it was all my dreams inside my head.
