A day to remember

by Unrequited   Apr 28, 2006

I wrote this a long time ago, but somehow forgot to post it. So here it is. Enjoy!
________________________________________________
i look to the window to watch the rain
i can't remember the last time it poured so hard
as i listen to the raindrops make their mournful music against my windows,
i drift off into a place i've never been;
a place that I need to go
i remember the demons of my past
i look to the angels of my future,
all of which is frozen in time
and i realize that i must move on

each drop of rain matches the beat of my heart
the synchronized sounds lift my woeful soul
and kiss me with a new breath of life
as the lips of hope reach out for my embrace
the passion of my love and the hope of the world that is around me
washes my clouds of depression away

my love cannot die
as i shield it from the rain
my soul is about to burst
as the dark of night begins to fade
the cries of sorrow echoed from the rain
coat my naked skin
i take my past of torment
and toss it away in vein

the end of my road is just ahead
i will not look back,
i cannot; for turning around is death
i look towards the future, where all the pain is absent
i must brave the rain,
and walk on through the storm of life
for soon, my happiness will shine
ever so bright

The concept, and most of the word choice is really good and paints such a vivid picture. But the first part felt a bit awkward because of the way itwas formatted with lines running this way and that instead of staying neat like the rest of it. The longer lines to me makes poems feel messy and kind of takes away from the impact they could have made. But as I said, most of it was really good.
